History

November 12, 1999 Justice is Served, the original, improvised parody of television court shows, created by David Lightner, is presented at Magilla’s Café in Hoffman Estates.
December, 1999 The Grounded Theatre is founded by David Lightner and Karen Elyse Rosenberg
February, 2000 Justice is Served is performed at Brunswick Zone of Naperville.
March - April, 2000 Justice is Served is performed at Brunswick Zone of Carol Stream.
April, 2000 The Ultimate Nightmare, a corporate workshop, is presented at a meeting of NAPM-Chicago.
April 24, 2000 The Grounded Theatre is incorporated by the State of Illinois.
June - August, 2000 Justice is Served is performed at The Playground Theatre in Chicago.
October - November, 2000 Animal Farm is performed as a dramatic reading at eight select Borders Books and Music Stores throughout the Chicago metropolitan area.
October, 2000 Readings from the works of Edgar Alan Poe are performed at Borders Books and Music in Schaumburg.
November, 2000 The Grounded Theatre is recognized as a tax-exempt corporation by the Internal Revenue Service.
January, 2001 The Grounded Theatre forms an ensemble to guide the artistic direction of the company.
March - April, 2001 Spoon River Anthology is performed at twelve select Borders Books and Music Stores throughout the Chicago metropolitan area.
June - August, 2001 Justice is Served is reprised for an eight week run at The Playground Theatre in Chicago.
October, 2001 To Kill a Mockingbird is performed at Borders Books and Music locations in Chicago in conjunction with Chicago Public Library’s One Book, One Chicago promotion. The event is sponsored by the Chicago Tribune and Borders Books and Music.
December, 2001 A reading of Victorian Christmas Stories written by American authors from the Victorian era is performed for the Bloomingdale Park District.
February, 2002 The Grounded Theatre forms a Grassroots Committee for volunteers who contribute to the growth of the company.
May - June, 2002 A Walk in the Woods is performed at Chopin Theatre Studio in Chicago.
September - October, 2002 Guys is performed at Chicago Actors Studio in Chicago.
December 2002 - June 2004 Jared Smith's Lake Michigan is adapted and work-shopped.
June 2004 Jared Smith's Lake Michigan is performed at Crossroads Theater in Naperville.
May - June 2005 Justice is Served is performed at Crossroads Theater in Naperville.
August - September 2005 An extended run of Justice is Served is performed at Crossroads Theater in Naperville.
March - April 2006 Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? is performed at The Comedy Shrine in Naperville.
April 2006 Awarded a grant from the City of Naperville.
September - October, 2006 Murray Schisgal’s Luv is performed at The Comedy Shrine in Naperville.
March - April, 2007 Neil Simon's The Odd Couple, Female Version is performed at The Comedy Shrine in Naperville to sold out audiences.
September - October, 2007 Kathy Najimy and Mo Gaffney's Parallel Lives is performed at The Comedy Shrine in Naperville
